On-Set: Grip & Electric

  • DARC Soundstage 2 Daly Avenue (map)

On-Set: Grip & Electric is a 4-part workshop designed to introduce both emerging and established filmmakers, crew members, or enthusiasts to the world of grip and electric. Want to better understand lighting setups? We’ve got you covered.

In this workshop, IATSE 634 gaffer Evelyn Sifton shares key components of equipment and electrical safety, and demonstrates how to use a variety of industry standard equipment including LED, tungsten, and HMI lighting systems, C-stands, flags, and hardware. Through a series of demonstrations and exercises, we’ll learn to design, shape, bounce, and diffuse light.

This workshop will provide participants with an opportunity to gain hands-on experience at DARC’s Soundstage and learn some essential tips and tools for working on set in the grip or electric departments.

This workshop takes place at the DARC Soundstage , a 600 square foot video production facility located in uOttawa's Morisset Hall (65 University Private).
