Edmonton-born writer-director Trevor Anderson is in the spotlight at Café Ex, the Canadian Film Institute’s ongoing visiting artist series which presents curated evenings of independent experimental film and video, on January 28, 2021. This virtual program, alongside a showcase of Anderson’s work, features a one-on-one interview with Trevor and his longtime friend, acclaimed filmmaker Matthew Rankin.
Trevor Anderson’s films have been a staple on the festival circuit for several years now, including three screenings at Sundance. His 2012 film The High Level Bridge caused Roger Ebert to proclaim, “The director of this film knows exactly what he’s doing… better, minute for minute, than most of the features at your multiplex”, while his most recent Sundance success, Docking, was named to TIFF’s Canada’s Top Ten list for short films. Café Ex features seven of Anderson’s films, including his latest documentary short Jesse Jams.
