A new season of spoken word is upon us! Join us for our 2023 season opener! Come on out for an in-person poetry slam and open mic in the Arts Court Studio Theatre, featuring internationally acclaimed spoken word artist and Women of the World Poetry Slam Champion, Ebony Stewart!
Doors open at 7:00pm EST, show starts at 7:30 SHARP!
This event is Pay What You Can, with a suggested donation of $10. Note that this event is limited capacity - separate tickets must be bought for every attendee so we know how many people to expect, and be sure to get your tickets early to ensure you've got a spot reserved. Ebony Stewart is an award-winning international touring poet, author, writer, and performance artist that combines activism and art, making her an artivist. As one of the most decorated poets in Texas, Ebony Stewart is a Woman of the World Poetry Slam Champion, respected coach, mental health advocate, and educator. She has shared stages with the late-Amiri Baraka, Patricia Smith, Marsha Ambrosius, Rudy Francisco, and many more. Her work has gone viral on several different platforms and has been featured in AfroPunk, Teen Vogue, For Harriet, The Texas Observer, and Houston Public Media – just to name a few.
