Pop, chip, kukuk is the triad of Nunavut junk food. As commodities with a long shelf life, soda pop, potato chips and chocolate bars are available everywhere in Inuit Nunangat, and consuming them together is an unmistakable part of Inuit pop culture. In her new series of graphic drawings, prints and soft sculptures, Tarralik Duffy brings a reverence for Inuit icons and offers a tongue-in-cheek ode to familiar objects that have been adopted into contemporary Inuit culture. Her exhibition Pop Chip Kukuk transforms SAW into a pop-up shop featuring limited-edition art T-shirts, bags and prints produced in SAW Nordic Lab's screenprinting workshop and made available for purchase throughout the exhibition run.
