An emotionally cathartic choreography that focuses on togetherness as a means to carry on through adversity. Movements embody the feeling of striving and braving the storm. An emotionally cathartic choreography that focuses on togetherness as a means to carry on through adversity. Movements embody the feeling of striving and braving the storm. This work feels urgent and important - a reminder to be persistent and tenacious in the midst of global instability. Despite the darkness, there is always humanity, and there is always hope - this piece will highlight that contrast; light verses shadow, chaos verses harmony. The choreography is taking shape as both highly physical and athletic, and at times soft, slow, and intentional. The piece will be made more potent with music by composer Raphael Weinroth-Browne whose music exudes emotion, grit, and an unwavering determination to deliver a message of perseverance.

UNE HISTOIRE ANODINE, UN COUPLE ORDINAIRE (2018) Created and performed by Monelle Doiron & Denis Lanteigne / Les Drôles de Moineaux This duet is choreographic exploration of the dynamics of a couple and the roles we each assume in relation to others. Human beings are social creatures who need one another. Throughout our lives, we evolve through various relationships—whether with family, friends, or romantic partners. Each relationship influences us and elicits a different response. Some people inspire us, while others hold us back. This is a short piece created through structured improvisations. The form is minimalist: simple, repetitive movement; precise spatial direction; and two bodies that intersect and influence one another—mine and that of my partner, Denis Lanteigne. He is not a dancer; he is a visual artist. The body here is raw; I cannot rely on physical performance, but rather on the sum of constraints to make the body vibrate and amplify both his presence and mine.
