"Gust" started out as an expression of the importance of imagination and nature in getting me through the devastating isolation of the pandemic lockdowns. As I worked on it with Elizabeth and others, it became something else as well--a celebration of the remarkable relationships we disabled people have with our paid helpers.

Always ourselves is an exploration on how deep and mysterious our subconscious can be. Drawing on ocean imagery, we find darkness, drama, push, and pull, but most of all we find ourselves.

Au départ, « Gust » m’a permis d’exprimer l’importance de l’imagination et de la nature afin de surmonter la dévastation de l’isolement vécu pendant les périodes de confinement de la pandémie. Plus je travaillais ce projet avec Elizabeth et d’autres artistes, plus il se transformait. Il en est venu à célébrer les relations remarquables que nous, les personnes handicapées, entretenons avec nos aidants rémunérés.

modes of togetherness est un échange entre la violiste Kathryn Patricia Cobbler et la danseuse Rosalie Paquette. Ensemble et en solitaire, elles s’engagent dans un dialogue physique et auditif de relations, s’éloignant et se rapprochant sans cesse l’une de l’autre.
« Always ourselves » explore la dimension insoupçonnée des profondeurs et des mystères de notre subconscient. Dans les images océaniques, nous trouvons obscurité, drame, élan et attraction, mais nous partons surtout à la découverte de nous-mêmes.
