Intro to Video Editing is an in-person workshop that'll introduce you to the concepts and techniques of video editing using DaVinci Resolve editing software.

Session 1

• Concepts of editing

• Navigating the Resolve interface

• Organizing and importing raw media

• Reviewing footage and prepping for the edit

Session 2

• Cutting a highlight reel vs cutting to a script

• Identifying necessary changes

• Improving the pacing

• Adding music

Session 3

• Creating titles

• Basic audio mixing and colour correction

• Exporting the completed edit for delivery

Participants will need access to: editing computers will be provided on-site but you may bring your own laptop if you prefer. DaVinci Resolve 21 must be installed ahead of time, which you can download for free.

Please note: Workshop time will not permit the instructor to troubleshoot hardware or software issues on your laptop.

Instructor

Ben Hoskyn is a freelance director, producer, and cinematographer across narrative features, live multi-cam shoots, viral ads and documentary series. His debut feature film as a director, the international drama “8 Minutes Ahead”, premiered at the Whistler Film Festival, screened in Hong Kong and New York City, and hit DVD and VOD in early 2019. Ben is a founding member of Space Tigers Inc, a production pipeline offering VFX and post-production services.
