Local synth composer Nick Schofield’s latest release “Ambient Ensemble” was inspired by a series of concerts where special guests were invited to improvise. The resulting album collaborations are “…beautiful and playful, full of serene surprises.” Chamberfest is delighted to host the first (and perhaps only) recreation of this unique album that features unique techniques and instrumentations. Nick Schofield will be joined by Ottawa’s own Philippe Charbonneau, Mika Posen (Merganzer), and Yolande Laroche (Orchidae) to explore the blissful interaction between acoustic resonance and the “Satie-style” sound bath of tape-slowed piano parts and layered synthesizer tracks. Don’t miss this playful collaboration in a concert that will “blend the boundaries between electronic and acoustic, solitude and collaboration.”
