Collective Sound Listening (CSL) is a semi-guided soundwalk and listening session organized by Maxime Gordon. During the walk participants pair up and share a field recorder and are encouraged to explore various ephemeral sounds in the landscape without obligation to record audio. Each walk is unique and usually takes place in different locations across Montreal – exceptionally this walk will take place at Strathcona park in Ottawa. The goal is simple: let’s listen to sounds in the city, together.
We’ll begin the workshop with an introduction to sound listening and multi-channel listening, followed by a soundwalk in two parts: one with field recorders and headphones and one without.
