The Common Cinema Vol. III

Knot Project Space presents the third volume of the Common Cinema initiative from February 26–28. For three consecutive evenings, screenings and discussions will be presented in partnership with Carleton University’s Transgender Media Portal, the Winnipeg Film Group, and the Canadian Film Institute.

These screenings will feature local, national, and international content, explore a range of approaches to the moving image, and address urgent contemporary concerns.

Program

Tuesday, Feb. 26 @ 6pm – Transgender Media Portal presents MAJOR!, a documentary exploring the life and campaigns of Miss Major Griffin-Gracy: a veteran of the Stonewall Rebellion and a survivor of Attica State Prison, a former sex worker, an elder, and a community leader and human rights activist.

Wednesday, Feb. 27 @ 7pm – SAW Video, the Canadian Film Institute, and the Winnipeg Film Group present Found in Translation: (Being) Women in Canada, featuring short films by Jessie Short, Danielle Sturk, Tricia Wasney, Shanwa Dempsey + Tracey Traeger, Erica Eyres, Eve Majzels, Michelle Elrick, Caroline Monnet, Amanda Strong, Leslie Supnet and Rhayne Vermette.

Thursday, Feb. 28 @ 7PM – the Canadian Film Institute and IFCO present CAFÉ EX: Phillip Barker.
